Inaugural Philosophy Workshop:
Aquinas and Contemporary Philosophy
Mount Saint Mary College, Newburgh, New York
Thursday, June 23 to Sunday, June 26, 2011
Presented by the
Catholic and Dominican Institute, Mount Saint Mary College, Newburgh, NY and
the Thomistic Institute, Dominican House of Studies, Washington, DC
This workshop will bring together
presenters who are accomplished contemporary academic philosophers, younger
professors, and aspiring graduate or undergraduate students in philosophy. The
idea is to have a working session and discussion about the challenges and goals
of philosophy in the Catholic tradition with a focus (though not exclusive) on
the Thomistic heritage. As an annual event, this can provide a forum where
graduate students and senior colleagues might discuss their philosophical work
both formally and informally, in a hospitable and fraternal climate.
