University of St Andrews - School of Philosophical, Anthropological and Film Studies
We are seeking to appoint to 3 positions in Philosophy: one temporary, two permanent.
Founded in 1413, St Andrews is the 3rd oldest university in the English-speaking world, and is ranked in the top 5 of UK universities, and at number twenty in the world ranking of Arts and Humanities universities. In the latest Research Assesment Exercise ranking of UK philosophy programmes, St Andrews was ranked a joint 1st. In the latest latest Leiter Report it was ranked no. 2 in the UK and no. 17 in the English-speaking world.
1. Temporary Lectureship in Philosophy
You will provide undergraduate teaching in history of modern philosophy and in moral philosophy; ability to teach meta-ethics, political philosophy and/or ancient philosophy may be an advantage.
In addition, you will conduct research in philosophy, and undertake standard administrative tasks as required. You may also be expected to teach in these areas at graduate level.

2. Professor or Reader in Philosophy I - SK7986
We are seeking to fill a position in Philosophy, which may be at either Professor or Reader level.
The successful candidate will have an outstanding international reputation for research in Meta-Ethics, Normative Ethics, Political Philosophy, Aesthetics, or the histories of these areas of philosophy, ancient or modern. She or he will conduct research, supervise and teach both graduate and undergraduate students, and undertake standard administrative tasks.

3. Professor or Reader in Philosophy II
We are seeking to fill a position in Philosophy, which may be at either Professor or Reader level.
The successful candidate will have an outstanding international reputation for research in Philosophical Logic, Philosophy of Logic, Philosophy of Science, Metaphysics, Philosophy of Mathematics or Formal Epistemology. She or he will conduct research, supervise and teach both graduate and undergraduate students, and undertake standard administrative tasks; the ability to teach formal logic to advanced undergraduate level may be an advantage.
